Introducing Paperbabe Stamps ~ New MDF Portrait Media Blanks.

Good Morning, welcome back to another day of Introductions...

Today it's the turn of MDF Portrait Media Blanks Kits, the same format as the previously released kits but with new hairstyles that coordinate with their mixed media templates counterparts.
Blunt Bangs Long
Long Loose Wave

They coordinate with the doll face minifemale face mini and the Sugar Skull stamp sets, but you are free to draw any face on yours as your creative heart desires. There are instructions and a face template to help with lining up and facial proportions. I have designed them so they can stand freely, be hung on the wall with the pre cut hanging hole, or adhere them to the Ornate frame large for a complete dimensional piece of art. The only addition you will need to add to the kit is adhesive, any good pva will work and of course your art supplies.

The Details:
  • MDF Portrait Media Blanks kits will be available for purchase on Sat 24th September.
  • The kits will retail at £7.99 each
  • The MDF Portrait Media Blanks kits have approx ten pre-cut pieces, they have been designed to have some adjustment whether you want to give your portrait a longer neck or flip the hair over for a different look. The MDF is 3mm thick with the plinth/stand at 6mm, your complete portrait will stand about 8" tall.

I have also designed and cut a few accessories to go with our theme this month.

Now onto my Sample...

My portrait is inspired by Snow White, with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony, although she has a candle instead of an apple.
I have a little slide show showing my steps to making this one. I used the same method as my piece yesterday with lots of underpainting and layers of paint. Her top I have collaged with book pages and aged with some acrylic paints. I've adorned the collar with black pen doodles and I love how the candle and roses came out.
I spent a little time painting the back of her hair, if you ever visit and she's looking this way it's just so the back of her gets some appreciation too, not that she's in the naughty corner.

Now you will have to visit our very special guest designer this month...
the talented

has created an amazing piece, wait and see...

Thank you very much for stopping by,
Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

Introducing... Paperbabe Stamps ~ Sugar Skull

I am so pleased you're visiting today, it's our first day of September's introductions...
It's a mixed bag of products this month that should hopefully all work together along the day of the dead theme...

Sugar Skull
The set comes in both standard and the mini version, It works alongside the standard and mini female face and doll face sets. All the elements are there to create a decorative face, the scallop ornamentation around the eyes can be stamped as an outline and coloured in, or stamped and the solid part will fit in to create hollow sockets familiar of the day of the Dead look. Most of the images are mirrored to give even wider scope for decorating your sugar skull face, they have been designed to coordinate with the previously released mixed media Head & Torso templates, so you can grow your collection. Imagine all the creative possibilities you could apply this to, be it dolls, cards and canvas' and all sorts of mixed media.

The Details:
  • Sugar Skull Standard and Mini will be available for purchase on Sat 24th September.
  • They will retail from £5.00 and £9.00
  • Sugar Skull has a total of 32 stamps, There are decorative scallop design for around the eyes, with solid infill shapes. Three styles of flourish all mirrored for symmetrical designs. There are crosses, flowers, diamonds, hearts and stitches. The images are all separate for more stamping variations.

Mixed Media Templates

These work the same as my previously released mixed media templates, the hairstyles have been broken down into simple steps to help you draw your portrait, they are available pre-cut too for the ease of using them straight from the packet.

The Details:
  • Both sizes of Portrait Mixed Media Templates will be available for purchase on Sat 24th September.
  • They will retail from £3.00 up to £8.50(for pre cut templates)
  • There are two new hairstyle templates in this collection: Long Loose Wave and Blunt Bangs Long the previously released head and torso will work with these and each hairstyle coordinates with the Female Face, Dolls Face and Sugar Skull stamp sets.

I have designed quite a few new substrates this release... I will show more in tomorrow's introductions. Here's one that's familiar, but much larger, almost A4 in size, lovely to house the dimensional portrait or simply to paint directly onto.
The Details:
  • Ornate Frame Large kit will be available for purchase on Sat 24th September.
  • It will retail at £4.99
  • There are six pieces in this kit, the main ornate oval approx A4 in size, with a little shelf for holding the dimensional portraits if needed, two hanging discs and two spacer discs to help make the picture float from the wall when hanging.

Now onto some samples...

For this one, I've drawn directly onto the MDF medium circle from the hanging circles kit, I have used coloured pencils on her face and neck, then stamped the day of the dead images. I've used the eyes and lips from the female face mini stamp set and the rag tails templates for her hair which I have coloured in using copics. I have then used gorgeous gold ink to paint the background.

A mixed media portrait...
On my ornate frame

This is so much better in real life, it's impossible to catch the shimmer with the camera no matter how much I try. Below you can find a step by step slide show on how I made this piece. I've used the Long Loose Wave and Head & Torso Templates along with the female face mini on the large MDF Ornate frame.

Thank you so much for all your encouragement,
I hope you will be back tomorrow for more inspiration.

Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

September's Sneak Peek Time!!!

It's sneak peek time.... Eek quite a different release this month, something I've had ready as stamps for a while and just needed the moment to set them free into the stamping world.
Sugar Skull, it's such a wonderful celebration of our loved ones passed. I couldn't help but get into the idea of this, the history of sugar skull, the moulds, the decorations, Sugar skull art reflects the folk art style of big happy smiles, colourful icing and glittery adornments.
Then I decided that we needed a couple of new hairstyles to go with our new sugar skull face, first is the Long Loose Wave and the Blunt Bangs Long.
Which then led me to create them into the Portrait Media Blanks to add to our previous collection.
This is probably familiar to you from the woodlands release, it's the same style of ornate frame it's just a whole lot bigger, Approx A4 so you can fit on a portrait either drawn or dimensional.
As flowers are associated with the Dia de los Muertos celebrations I have designed this roses repeat pattern stencil.
AND because there's lots of dimensional substrates, I also created these layered roses to coordinate.

Find out more details in tomorrow's introductions and
there's still plenty of time to enter our current wings challenge!
I am loving the entries so far, thank you :)

Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!
